SL sees drop in polls-related complaints this time: EC

The Election Commission has announced a significant drop in the complaints related to the upcoming presidential election.  

Commissioner General of Elections Saman Sri Ratnayake told Daily Mirror a total of 4,731 cases had been reported during the period from July 31 to September 17, which is a considerable decrease compared to other periods.  

Of the total complaints, the National Centre for Election Complaint Management received 1438, while the District Centres for Election Complaint Management received 3299.  

All complaints were categorised as breaches of laws, with 31 incidents of violence being reported.
