Sri Lanka will focus on the expedition of proposed Indian investments in areas such as renewable energy during bilateral talks with Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S.Jaishankar who will arrive in the country this evening, a Minister said.
Foreign Minister Ali Sabry told Daily Mirror that India had already informed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that it would agree to debt restructuring.
The Minister said Sri Lanka would focus on seeking investments from India for economic development instead of depending on financial assistance.
India has already sought to invest in the energy sector with the aim of grid connectivity in the long run. The Trincomalee oil tank farm development is another key strategic investment to be done by India. Dr. Jaishankar will arrive in Sri Lanka from the Maldives after a bilateral visit. He is visiting Sri Lanka for the first time after President Ranil Wickremesinghe took office last year.
