SLFP Baddegama Organiser involved in alleged fraud involving Rs.20Mn

  • Accused of cheating several young men promising them foreign employment

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) electoral organiser for Baddegama Malik Gunawardene has been wanted in connection with an alleged fraud involving Rs. 20 million.   


He is alleged to have cheated several young men on the promise of providing them employment in foreign countries and obtained money.   


Police said the victims were from Galle, Ratgama, Boosa, Yakkalamulla and Angulugaha areas. Galle Police submitted to the Galle Magistrate Isuru Nettikumara a report on the charge of criminal breach of trust against the suspect.   


Attorney at Law Rajindra Narangoda appearing for the suspect moved for anticipatory bail. The Magistrate ordered police to file objections, if any, against the bail application on February 01 and postpone the case.   


OIC Crime Investigation Unit CI Pulasthi Soyza and SI Udaya Kantha are conducting further investigations on the instructions of HQI Galle Police S.S. Jayaweera to arrest the suspect.
