SLMA to oppose proposed paid ward system at govt. hospitals

• A new procedure to be implemented to obtain accurate data on doctors who are migrating or retiring  

The Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) said it is opposed to the proposed paid wards systems in state hospitals.   

The new Chairperson of Sri Lanka Medical Association Dr. Vindya Ariyaratne said the association would oppose the proposal which was brought in the 2023 budget   
She said a new procedure will immediately be implemented to obtain accurate data on doctors who are migrating or retiring.   

Dr. Ariyaratne, emphasized that the lack of accurate information regarding the matter is a serious issue.
