Former Sri Lanka national cricketer Sachithra Senanayake arrested over allegations of match fixing was today ordered to be remanded till September 15 by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
Sachithra Senanayake was arrested after he surrendered to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Sports Ministry over allegations against him relating to match-fixing in the Lanka Premier League in 2020.
Meanwhile, Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis ordered that the suspect cricketer be produced before the Government Analyst to undergo a voice test as a part of the investigation into an alleged telephone conversation between Sachithra Senanayake and another cricketer.
The Court rejected the bail application submitted on behalf of Sachithra Senanayake.
