Sajith Premadasa, SJB lead in 2024 presidential campaign spending

The latest financial disclosures from the Election Commission reveal that Sajith Premadasa and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), lead in campaign spending for the 2024 Presidential Election, with a total expenditure of Rs. 1.13 billion.   

This figure includes Rs. 936.26 million from Premadasa’s personal campaign expenses.  

Meanwhile, former President Ranil Wickremesinghe ranked as the second-highest spender, with a reported Rs. 990.32 million spent on his campaign.  

National People’s Power (NPP) candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who ultimately won the election, reported no personal expenditure while Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidate Namal Rajapaksa also reported no personal spending.
