Sanath Nishantha’s driver instructed to reach Colombo within one and half hours, Attorney tells Court

The attorney representing the driver of the late State Minister Sanath Nishantha, informed in court on Monday that the driver had been instructed by the late Minister to travel from Chilaw to Colombo within 1 1/2 hours. 

 
Due to the late State Minister’s order, her client had to constantly drive at a high speed, attorney Ms. Tamara Abeyratne on behalf of the driver told court.  

This was revealed when Welisara Magistrate Thusitha Dhammika Uduwavidana ordered the release on bail of the driver who was driving the V-8 luxury jeep at the time of the accident that killed State Minister Mr. Sanath Nishantha and his bodyguard Nilariya.  


The driver was released on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each. The magistrate also ordered to suspend the driver’s licence of the suspect until further notice.
