‘Sandahiru Seya’ in Anuradhapura vested with Maha Sangha

The ‘Sandahiru Seya’ in Anuradhapura was ceremonially vested with the Venerable Maha Sangha yesterday (18), under the patronage of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and officially opened the Sacred site for devotees.  

The‘Sandahiru Seya’ was built to commemorate the heroic war heroes who made the sacrifice for the unity of the motherland as well as to mark the end of the 30- year- war.   The Venerable Maha Sangha and a large number of invitees attended the ‘Crest Gem’ unveiling ceremony. The ‘Sandahiru Seya’, which is the second biggest pagoda in the country, was constructed with the support of a large number of personnel from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and Civil Security Department personnel of respective security establishments.  


On November 8, the ‘Crest Gem’ had been placed at the tip of the Stupa pinnacle. Families of deceased veteran war heroes and differently abled ex-servicemen also witnessed the event.
