Special checkpoints have been established across Mannar in response to intelligence reports that suspects involved in the Athurugiriya shooting may attempt to escape to India via fishing boats.

Authorities have alerted airports and other key points to prevent the suspects from leaving the country. However, due to the heightened risk of escape through Mannar, multiple special search posts and roadblocks have been deployed.

Meanwhile, security has been bolstered at a prominent funeral parlour in Colombo, where the remains of Surendra Wasantha Perera known as ‘Club Wasantha,’ lie.
It was reported that this move comes in response to an unverified telephone call received about a potential threat to the parlour’s premises for allowing the remains of Club Wasantha.
