Sepal arrested for insulting the sacred tooth relic

Activist Sepal Amarasinghe who was accused of insulting the Sacred tooth relic was arrested at Bellanwila yesterday.  

He was arrested by a special CID team late last evening.    President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed the IGP to initiate an immediate and comprehensive investigation regarding the construction of a duplicate Dalada Maligawa at Pothuhera in Kurunegala.   

The instructions were given after the Ven. Mahanayaka Theras had reported the matter to the President, The Presidential Media Division said.
