The no confidence motion against Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena that was handed over to Deputy Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne yesterday has not been signed by some Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MPs.
SJB MPs Rajitha Senaratne, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka and Eran Wickramaratne are some of the MPs who have not signed the motion.

MP Dullas Alahapperuma’s signature was also missing.
A total number of 44 MPs have signed the motion. Accordingly, National People’s Power MP Vijitha Herath, Professor G. L Peiris, Maithripala Sirisena, Dayasiri Jayasekara, Charitha Herath, Rishad Bathiudeen, Mano Ganesan and M. A. Sumanthiran are some of the signatories. The main allegations that have been made against Speaker is allowing the approval of Online Safety Bill without amendments recommended by the Supreme Court and violating the constitution by using his vote to appoint Deshabandu Tennekoon as the IGP.
