Special conference of UNP to be held on October 21

Minister of Land and Tourism Harin Fernando said a special conference of the United National Party would be held on October 21 at Sugathadasa Stadium under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickeremesinghe.  

The object of the conference was to reorganize the party under an effective plan with amendments to the party constitution.  
“This conference will be an initiative to reorganize the party under a new concept based at grassroots level. 

The conference which was to be held on September 10,  was postponed in view of the inclement weather experienced all over the country. The UNP would put forward a new development programme in view of the next presidential election. The members of the management committee unanimously decided to join hands with a new team and to march forward regardless of posts. Everyone can be pleased with the present situation in the country when compared to that about a year ago,” he said.
