Sri Lanka woos South Indian investments

In view of enhancing awareness of trade and investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka, the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai together with Southern India Chamber of Commerce and  Industry (SICCI) organized “Doing business with Sri Lanka” business discussion recently at SICCI auditorium in Chennai, a statement from the mission in Chennai said. Addressing the meeting Mr. Ar Rm Arun, president and Mr. Vinod Solomon, Secretary of the chamber warmly welcomed the Deputy High Commissioner and highlighted the long lasting bilateral relationship between Sri Lanka and India.

Giving the impetus, Dr. Venkateshwaran, Deputy High Commissioner stressed the importance of doing business in Sri Lanka, potential investment avenues available in the country and convinced them on the facilities and incentives being provided by the government of Sri Lanka to foreign traders and investors.  He invited SICCI to arrange an investor delegation to Sri Lanka next year.


The event was followed by an interaction session and thirty potential and well established traders and investors participated from heterogeneous business and investment sectors in South India such as renewable energy, textiles, pharmaceutical, automobile, electronic and IT/BPO etc.


The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), which has completed hundred years of excellence and enterprise in service to the southern region of the nation, is one of the oldest, largest and prestigious institutions in India.
