Stock of 300 kilos of heroin seized in fishing trawler

• The crew and four others including the owner have been arrested

A consignment of 300 kilos of heroin was seized in transit during a raid in the sea off  Hambantota in the early hours of last morning.

 It was being transported by a multiday fishing trawler when the Navy, the STF, and the Police Anti Narcotics Bureau carried out the joint operation from  midnight on Sunday (06) till early hours of last morning in the sea about 12 nautical miles off Hambantota.  

A senior STF official said the six men crew of the trawler and four others including the owner suspected for the racket had been arrested.
