Stop import of luxury vehicles temporarily: Maithri

The import of luxury vehicles should be temporarily stopped for four to five years until the country’s economy returns to normalcy, former President Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday.   
He told Parliament that import of luxury vehicles was a major way of foreign currency outflow and that it leads to depletion of foreign reserves. He said the fleet of luxury vehicles currently in the country is sufficient.
