Sumanthiran who lost in Jaffna refuses nomination on National List

• Says would continue to do politics

Former Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) MP for the Jaffna district M.A. Sumanthiran who lost his parliamentary seat has refused to be nominated on the National List.

Asked about it, Mr. Sumanthiran told Daily Mirror that most people in the party wanted him to return to Parliament on the National List, but he declined since people rejected him through the ballot.

He said he would continue to do politics.

Mr.Sumanthiran, a leading lawyer cum lawmaker, entered Parliament first in 2010 on the National List. Later, he contested the General Elections in 2015 and 2020 in Jaffna and got elected.
