The use of modern drone technology can be used for the development of the agriculture sector in the country, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said.
While attending an event on a drone pilot training programme launched by the Vocational Training Authority (VTA), he said the latest technology in drone operation should be used to save time, reduce waste in the agriculture sector and increase production.
“This is what other countries are currently using for their improvements. Unfortunately, it is only now that our country is getting used to this technology,” Minister Premajayantha said.
“No such programmes on drone training has ever been conducted in Sri Lanka. After this training, these efforts can be used for the cultivation of acres of fields, such as spraying pesticides. The use of drone technology will help reduce manpower and inefficiency,” the Minister further said.
