The party leaders yesterday decided to have a ten-hour session to debate on the domestic debt restructuring (DDR) programme today.

The parliamentary media unit said the debate would begin at 9.30 a.m. today and the vote will be taken up at 7.30 p.m.

It was also decided to cancel the sessions on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 and to have three-day sessions next week.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretery Ranjith Madumma Bandara said his party had asked for a two-day debate on the debt restructuring programme, but the ruling party had not been in favour. However Daily Mirror learnt that the government had agreed to extend the debate for ten hours on the same day so that the MPs would have sufficient time to speak.
