Three children without basic needs taken into custody of the Police

  • The 12-year-old girl with special needs and her two brothers aged 7 and 8 have been taken into the police custody

Three children aged 7, 8 and 12, who were at their house in the Unnaruwa area of Minuwangoda without food or clothing were taken into the custody of Child and Women’s Bureau of Minuwangoda Police, police said.  


The 12-year-old girl with special needs and her two brothers aged 7 and 8 have been taken into the police custody.   

Police say that the father of these three children is dead. The police have taken steps to hospitalize the sick mother lying on the floor inside the house.  


The police said that the two boys had gone to school some time ago and had abandoned their schooling amid the prevailing poverty.

  
On a notification to the police by the child rights officer of the Minuwangoda Divisional Secretariat, the officers of the Child and Women’s Bureau of the Minuwangoda Police took the three children under their care.  


The police further stated that the three children who are in an unsafe condition will be produced before the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court and requested to be placed in appropriate custody.
