Three retired deputy election commissioners vie for EC Chair

• Constitutional Council decides to  appoint new members to all independent commissions

Three retired deputy election commissioners  have applied for the post of Chairman of the Election Commission, informed  sources said yesterday.   

The Constitutional Council which met last month decided to  appoint new members to all independent commissions, including the election commission, as per the provisions of the 21st amendment to the  constitution. 

Accordingly, applications were called in through  advertisements published in national newspapers. Informed sources said  applications have been received from various persons for the posts.   

Daily Mirror also learns that constitutional council has decided to replace all existing members of election Commissions.
