Tourist killed by jumbo

A foreign tourist had been trampled to death by a wild elephant at Manachchena in Komariya in Pottuvil last morning.  

Investigations revealed that the Italian tourist Ginchino  Paulo (50), with another Italian tourist had been riding on motorcycles  in Komariya area when he met with accident.  

The injured had been rushed to Pottuvil Base Hospital by 1990 ambulance service only to be pronounced dead.   The body was dispatched to Ampara General Hospital for postmortem examination.   

OIC Pottuvil Police CI Kamal Seneviratne is conducting further investigations on the instructions of ASP Wehitha Devapiya.
