In response to a question as to how it will help Sri Lanka in curbing the threat, a U. S. Embassy spokesperson said the mission is closely cooperating with the Sri Lankan authorities but refrained from making any additional comment.

The embassy on Wednesday said it received credible information warning of an attack targeting popular tourist locations in the Arugam Bay area.
Due to the serious risk posed by this threat, the embassy imposed a travel restriction on embassy personnel for Arugam Bay effective immediately and until further notice.
U.S. citizens are strongly urged to avoid the Arugam Bay area until further notice, the embassy said.
Asks whether the advisory was issued after notifying the Sri Lankan authorities and how will the US help in curbing the threat, the spokesperson said, “We are working closely with Sri Lankan authorities and would refer you to the Government of Sri Lanka for any additional comment.”
