The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) today handed over a sum of Rs.3 billion to the Treasury, the largest contribution ever made from the Bureau’s surplus last year.
Addressing the media, minister Manusha Nanayakkara said thus, “This large sum of money given by the Foreign Employment Bureau to the Treasury throughout history is Rs.3,382 million, this is the first time in history that Rs.3 billion has been given at once.”

“While taking into account the current economic situation in the country, this amount was given from the operational surplus obtained by the SLBFE last year,” the minister said.
Moreover, the SLBFE granted Rs. 500 million to buy necessary drugs to the cancer hospital, of which Rs.100 million have been given so far.
