Two dead in wild elephant attacks

A Civil Security Constable and a fisherman had been trampled to death by wild elephants in Gomarankadawala and Pulmudai areas on Saturday evening (06) and in the early hours of last morning.  

A fisherman in Jinnapuram in Pulmudai had been killed by a wild elephant in the early hours of saturday. The victim A.L.M.Anver  (57) had died at the scene.   

   A Civil Security Constable on duty helping the wildlife conservators during a raid on the previous day to drive away a herd of wild elephants that roamed into Karaggahawewa in Gomarankadawala had fallen prey to a wild elephant attack.  

The deceased Ananda Gamini (44) had been attached to Kandamalawa Civil Security Division.
