Two shot dead in two separate incidents

• The body of a person who died due to a shooting at Pinwatta in Panadura, was found inside a luxury vehicle
• Another resident of Usmudullawa, Madampagama had been shot at Ponaduwa, Ambalangoda and died at the Balapitiya Hospital

Two shooting incidents were reported yesterday at separate locations in Panadura and Ambalangoda, police said.  They said the body of a person who died due to a shooting at Pinwatta in Panadura, was found inside a luxury vehicle last morning.  

Later, the deceased was identified as a 56-year-old businessman and resident of Kirillawala, Kadawatha. The body was discovered in the driver’s seat of a high-end jeep.The suspects had fled the area following the shooting.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, and police suspect a person riding a motorcycle might have carried out the shooting and fled. He was shot dead while visiting his house under construction in the Pinwatte area off  Panadura, according to police investigations.  

Meanwhile, another individual on a motorcycle was shot at Ponaduwa  and admitted to the Balapitiya hospital.   The deceased was identified as a 42-year-old resident of Usmudullawa, Madampagama. He had been shot while returning home after dropping his wife at work and had died while being transported to the Balapitiya Hospital.  

The incident was reported to police at 9.15am yesterday.
