Two units of Uma Oya Hydro Power Plant to be completed by September: Kanchana

The Unit 1 and 2 of the Uma Oya Hydro Power Plant will be available for power generation to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) from August 2023 and September 2023 respectively, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekara said yesterday.   

He said that Farab, the construction company of the Uma Oya Multi-purpose Irrigation Facility had informed of this when Dr. Ali Vakili, Managing Director of Farab, Project Manager of Uma Oya and representatives of Farab visited the Ministry of Power and Energy yesterday.  “120 MW of hydro power will be added to the national grid once the project is completed,” he tweeted.
