The USA should intervene to ensure that the local government elections are held in Sri Lanka, a Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) member said yesterday.

Samagi Tharuna Balawegaya (SJB Youth Wing) National Organizer Chamith Wijesundara told a media briefing that the USA should intervene through its Ambassador Julie Chung to convince President Ranil Wickremesinghe to hold the LG polls. “Ms. Chung is a good friend of President Wickremesinghe,” he said.

“US President Joe Biden assured that his country would not allow democracy to die in any part of the world and therefore, he should intervene in resolving the issue pertaining to the local government polls,” Wijesundara added.
