Ven. Rajanganaye Saddharathana Thera remanded

• Saddharathana Thera posted a video on YouTube allegedly insulting President Ranil Wickremesinghe

Ven. Rajanganaye Saddharathana Thera, a monk who is famous on social media, who was arrested from Anuradhapura area for making remarks that could disrupt religious harmony has been remanded until June 7 by the Fort magistrate yesterday.  

The Police arrested the Buddhist monk following a complaint on Sunday night.  

The CID launched an investigation after Saddharathana Thera posted a video on YouTube allegedly insulting President Ranil Wickremesinghe.  

The investigation was prompted by a video clip that is currently circulating, in which the alleged “monk” can be seen publicly scolding the President using abusive words.  

It was reported that a special report on the matter has also been submitted to the President’s Office.
