Wasp nests in Nine Arch Bridge removed

The wasp nests in the Nine Arch Bridge in Ella that posed a danger to tourists was removed yesterday and steps were taken to prevent rebuilding of wasp nests in the bridge and the surrounding area. The Nine Arch Bridge is one of the main tourist attractions in the up-country.   

 The Organization to Protect Bees, the Department of Railways, the Archaeological Department and the Central Cultural Fund had undertaken the programme coordinated by the Ella Divisional Secretariat.  

 Ella Divisional Secretary Indika Gayan Pathirana said several local and foreign tourists had been stung by wasps.
