Wealthy Sri Lankans in Australia come to Danushka Gunathilaka’s rescue

A mysterious Sri Lankan female residing in Melbourne pays Danushka’s bail money

Sri Lankan cricketer Danushka Gunathilaka who was granted bail under strict conditions by a Magistrate Court in Sydney yesterday will reside in a wealthy Sri Lankan citizen’s house as he will have to provide an immediate local address to the Australian Police, the Daily Mirror learns.  

As the bail was granted under strict conditions including a surety of Australian 150,000 dollars, sources said that a mysterious Sri Lankan female who is residing in Melbourne had immediately submitted the full amount of cash to get bail for the cricketer. The connection the cricketer has to this female or whether she is simply a fan is yet to be disclosed.  
As the case was taken up yesterday several wealthy Sri Lankans living in Sydney had come forward to offer accommodation to Danushka and to look after his expenses during the duration of his stay. Those residing in Melbourne had also pitched in to look after the national cricketer.  


For now, Sri Lankan Cricket will not have any expenses to bear on the accommodation of the cricketer due to the several volunteers who have come forward to look after him but they will continue paying his legal costs.  


His case will be called again on January 12.  


 Danushka Gunathilaka who is facing four charges of sexual assault in Sydney was granted bail yesterday with a $150,000 surety and various conditions, including Danushka not using Tinder or any other dating apps. He’s also prevented from accessing his existing social media accounts unless in the company of his legal team.  
Other conditions also include reporting to the police daily, a curfew imposed on him from 9 pm to 6 am and not contacting the complainant.
