Weapons recovered after Easter Sunday attacks Thousand swords and other items disposed at sea

More than 1000 swords, bomb parts, spears and a large number of similar weapons, seized and confiscated by the security forces after the Easter Sunday’s terrorist attacks, were dumped in the deep sea yesterday (20) following a court order.On board the Sri Lanka Navy’s ‘Suranimala’ ship, a group of judicial officers along with Navy personnel left the Rangala Navy Camp and disposed the stock of weapons at sea at a distance of 1000 nautical miles and at a depth of 1000 feet. 

Following Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis’s order, Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasinghe, the court registrar, and the court staff in charge of the cases had visited and taken action to dispose off the stock of weapons.


Accordingly, 1000 swords, daggers, pointed weapons, bomb parts, 08 guns and 10 Galkatas type firearms were disposed off.
