Responding to the remark made by President Ranil Wickremesinghe that local government elections had not been legally declared, Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa yesterday questioned why UNP had submitted nominations if there were no polls.

“We question as to why the party which is led by the President has submitted nominations if the polls are not declared legally. It is clear that President Wickremesinghe is the master brain behind the postponement of the local government election. The President talks as if he had gone insane,” Mr. Premadasa said.

“There is a conspiracy to roll the electoral map and bring about a Hitler-type dictatorship. We will launch a revolution to prevent this move,” he added.
