Woman Police Sergeant, another dead in separate accidents

A Woman Police Sergeant riding a motorcycle who was run over  by a tipper lorry at Malleheva on Giriulla – Pasyala Road died on the  spot. The deceased PS Padmini Ketipearachchi (52) from Thalagama in  Ambepussa had been attached to Warakapola Police.  

Investigations revealed that the motorcycle had hit another  motorcycle overtaking it and toppled on the road. 

The WPS who fell on  the road had been run over by a lorry that followed. Her husband who  received injuries was admitted to Wathupitiwala Hospital.
Police arrested the driver of the lorry and initiated  investigations to arrest the hit-and-run rider of the other motorcycle  involved in the accident.  

In a similar accident at Idiparape on Giriulla- Pasyala  road a private bus had veered off the road and crashed into a wayside  street lamp post causing the death of a passenger.  The deceased Jayaweera Arachchilage Ananda Jayaweera was a resident of Kahawatta.
