A 31-year-old woman who had allegedly offered a Rs. 2 million contract to Ravindu Sanka de Silva alias ‘Booru Moona’, to assassinate two persons in Hikkaduwa last year was arrested at Kalupe in Hikkaduwa.
The arrest was made following the interrogation of Booru Moona who is detained by the Western Province (South) Crime Division. He was prevented from going overseas and not allowed to leave the Katunayake Airport by the Airport Police on 25 February. However, he was arrested in Avissawella on March 17.
Police said the Hikkaduwa Police launched investigations regarding the shooting in Hikkaduwa on October 31 last year where two persons who were traveling on a motorcycle were shot and killed by two unidentified men on another motorcycle, while the victims were going to appear in a court case.
It has been revealed that this double murder was carried out by Booru Moona, on a contract of Rs. 2 million.
The suspect woman had aided and abetted the murder by providing Booru Moona the motorcycle, a three wheeler, T56 firearm and the money.
The arrested woman, a resident of Hikkaduwa was detained for 48 hours for further questioning after being produced before the Galle Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, the underworld criminal Booru Moona was detained for 90 days for further questioning under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
