Doctor arrested for assault on grandmother

• The suspect had assaulted the elderly woman for not transferring the ownership of a land

A doctor of Debarawewa base hospital was taken into custody yesterday morning by Tissamaharama police in connection with the alleged assault on his grandmother. The injured 93-year-old woman was admitted to hospital   
Investigations revealed that the suspect had assaulted the elderly woman for not transferring the ownership of a land. 

 Police said the suspect had obstructed the duty of the police officers who called over at his house to conduct investigations of the injured woman’s complaint.   

The suspect was to be produced before Tissamaharama magistrate on the charge of assaulting the elderly woman and obstructing the duty of the police.   

Thissamaharama police are conducting further investigations on the instructions of SSP Tangalle Division.
