Fiance arrested for death caused by jumbo

Police investigating the death of a young woman who had been attacked by a wild elephant in Uda Diyaluma forest reserve in Koslanda produced her Fiance before Bandarawela Actg.Magistrate Keneth De Silva who remanded him till 8th of June. 

The victim Tharushi Kavisha ( 23) from Kekanadura and her fiance Kaluarachchige Dhanushka (22) had been camping in the Uda Diyaluma forest reserve when they came under attack by a jumbo.   


The young woman died and her fiance who received injuries had been admitted to the Diyathalawa Base Hospital.   


Police said the young man was taken into custody and produced in court on suspicion of homicide under section 298 of the penal code.   


Two unauthorized tour guides who helped the couple to put up


a tent in the forest reserve to spend the night regardless of their safety had been arrested and remanded earlier.
