Man gets jail term for stealing commode

A suspect who stood charged with stealing a toilet commode and retaining the stolen goods was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment under the two charges and fined Rs.3,000 by Galle Chief Magistrate Isuru Nettikumara.  
He was sentenced to further six month imprisonment in default of the fine.  The suspect Thommadura Sudeah Pushpakumara (37) was a resident of Rathgama.  Police told court that the suspect had stolen the commode used in a home for the aged in Rathgama area which had been dismantled to be fitted in another location.
