Under the government’s new education reforms, no student shall be failed or neglected in the future although they are unable to achieve the standard pass marks for career examinations like the G.C.E Ordinary Level or Advance Level, a senior educationist said.

Deputy Director General of Faculty of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences of the National Institute of Education (NIE) Dr. Darshana Samaraweera said although a student fails his career exam, he shall never be neglected from the system or society in the future.

Dr. Samaraweera was the chief guest addressing the Annual Prize Giving Ceremony of Zahira College Colombo held last week at the college’s Ghaffoor Hall, where students who have excelled in their studies were awarded for the years 2020 and 2021.

Even though a student fails his career exam, the government has introduced a range of vocational training schemes to continue their studies in a chosen field. “Every child has his own skills, which could be developed to become the career person he or she wishes to be,” he said.

Principal of the College Trizviiy Marikkar presented the Principal's Report.
