Suspect arrested for throwing slipper at a foreign tourist travelling on Udarata Menike

 A young man who is alleged to have thrown a slipper at a foreign tourist woman traveling on the Udarata Menike express on Wednesday evening (22) was taken into custody by the Bandarawela Police.   

 Police said the suspect standing by the railway line had thrown the slipper at a tourist hanging on to the foot board handle and it had struck another tourist standing on the foot board and sightseeing and the incident had appeared on social media instantly. A senior police official said Bandarawela SSP Pradeep Kalupahana who watched the incident on social media, had instructed Bandarawela, Haputale and Diyatalawa police stations to arrest the suspect. Investigations revealed that the suspect was a resident of Bandarawela area. He was to be produced before the Bandarawela Magistrate.
