Two Army intelligence soldiers arrested over death of woman

Two Intelligence Army personnel were arrested by the Borella Police after a woman was shot dead when a pistol of a soldier misfired during a raid at Dematagoda.  

Police said the incident was reported when the soldiers attempted to take a suspect into custody at Halgahakumbura in Borella on Monday night.   The soldier’s pistol was fired during the incident and one of the women who were at the scene was injured with gunshot wounds.

The soldiers were seen fleeing the scene soon after the incident.  

The 25-year old woman who was injured during the incident died after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.  

The Borella Police is investigating.
