Ceylonese Rugby Football Club (CR and FC) will host their first league rugby encounter at Longden Place under floodlights, later next month.

This project was completed in a short span of time. The Sports Ministry funded half of the project while the other half was funded by Emirates, Sumal Fernando and the Life Members of the CR and FC.

President, CR and FC, Tikiri Ellepola said: “Access International completed the project in four months with ACL Cables and LECO supporting in with their experts.”

He further said: “The CR and FC floodlight sub-committee headed by Sriyan Cooray and Aashiq Lafeer were monitoring the progress ably supported by General Manager, Dasun Welhena and the CR and FC ground staff.”

He also said: “The CR and FC intend playing all home matches under the lights and will continue with free entrance for matches to encourage spectators to enjoy the atmosphere.”

“The ground will be made available for the schools to play their matches under the lights for rugby and other sports as well.”
