CEAT hosts export customers from three countries to Sri Lanka

CEAT Sri Lanka, a joint venture between CEAT Limited of India and Kelani Tyres PLC, recently hosted a group of export customers from three key overseas markets on a five-day visit to Sri Lanka.
The outcome of a dealer promotion conducted by the company, the visiting group comprised of members of the sales team of Duxtera (S) (Pte) Ltd. Singapore headed by Shivi Kalra, and representatives of Duxtera’s customers inthe Philippines and Indonesia.

The group met with the senior management of CEAT Sri Lanka, toured the company’s extensive manufacturing complex at Kelaniya and also visited Negombo, Pinnawala, Kandalama, Sigiriya, Minneriya, Polonnaruwa and Kandy.

“Singapore and the Philippines are important export markets for CEAT, particularly in the light truck tyre segment,” CEAT Sri LankaManaging Director Vijay Gambhire said. “We are currently focussed on developing truck and radial tyres for the Philippine, Indonesian and Singaporean markets and these promotions are intended to increase our export volumes to those countries.”  He said CEAT tyres manufactured in Sri Lanka have also developed strong markets in Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, Myanmar, Pakistan and several Gulf countries, and disclosed that the company is currently developing the market for forklift tyres in the African and Gulf regions. 

Duxtera is a Singapore-based company that provides leading off-highway and on-highway tyre solutions. The company offers a customised range of products that meet the diversified requirements of customers via leading suppliers in China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
About 35 per cent of CEAT Sri Lanka’s current tyre production is exported to 15 countries in South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and the Far East. The company recently announced a further investment of Rs 800 million to expand its radial tyre manufacturing capacity in the country to supply growing local and export demand.

CEAT currently has a 30% share of the radial tyre market in Sri Lanka and supplies nearly half of the country’s overall requirement of pneumatic tyres.
