IPM Sri Lanka recently appointed as the franchise partner of University of Salford, Manchester, UK to offer University of Salford’s Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) and Master of Science (M. Sc) degrees in Human Resources Management locally in Sri Lanka.
The Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed by Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri-President, IPM Sri Lanka and Eileen Roddy-Associate Dean International, University of Salford, UK on 26th of October 2016 at a ceremony held at its head office “IPM HR House” in Colombo 5. A large number of invitees including IPM Sri Lanka Council Members and Committee members were present at the ceremony.
“We are pleased to enter into this long term relationship with the University of Salford, Manchester, UK to offer their globally recognized human resources management degrees in Sri Lanka. Local students will benefit from this initiative by IPM Sri Lanka since they will be completing their undergraduate as well as postgraduate degrees in human resources management in Sri Lanka itself,” said Prof. Dharmasiri.
“This is the very first time in history that IPM Sri Lanka is signing an agreement with an international university to offer their degrees locally. While thanking the team from IPM who made this a reality, I urge those in the human resources management field to consider the benefits of following an internationally-recognized degree in human resources management right here in Sri Lanka” he added.
“IPM Sri Lanka is a long standing and respected professional institute which specializes in human resources management, and their faculty consists of experienced professionals in human resources management. We are confident that IPM will be able to achieve their objective of taking HR to a higher level by engaging in a long-term relationship with an institution of the stature of the University of Salford, Manchester UK said Eileen Roddy, Associate Dean International, University of Salford, Manchester, UK.
“We are delighted to have signed this MoU appointing IPM Sri Lanka as our franchise partner in Sri Lanka and look forward to strengthening our mutual relationship in the years to come,” she added.
The B. Sc and M. Sc degree programmes will be of 3 years and 16-18 months in duration respectively and will be conducted by an experienced faculty from IPM Sri Lanka with subject matter and curricular provided by the University of Salford. The assessments for the degree programmes will also be conducted according to the specification and standards set by the University of Salford, Manchester, UK.
