PIM Alumni takes initiative in ddeveloping soft skills of managers

The PIM Alumni Association of the Postgraduate Institute of management (PIM), affiliated to the University of Sri   Jayewardenepura recently launched a newly designed and far reaching educational programme for the practicing managers of the Sri Lankan public and corporate sector   Institutions. 
This new initiative emerged under the theme of management soft skills development (SMDP) is mainly focused on enhancing the much needed information and imparting knowledge on developing soft skills for the practicing managers. 


During the launch of the programme the PIMA officials emphasized the importance of continuous learning and training requirement as a vital component for further improvement and increased performance of 
all Managers. 


The PIMA initiated SMDP programme will include various facets of modern management which is blended with theoretical and practical experiences. The areas of discussion during the programme will include specific subjects which will pave the way for better knowledge and better understanding, which will lead to superior overall performance of all officials concerned.


The lecturing panel will include all qualified  professionals with masters and doctoral degrees who have the wealth of theoretical and practical experiences and are currently holding top corporate sector positions.


The programme is expected to include subjects such as self-mentoring, emotional intelligence, personal branding, accounting and financial management, effective teaming and collaboration innovative thinking, effective corporate communication, digital social media, corporate negotiation skills and corporate etiquettes and more, that most professional managers should inculcate in their management career. This programme will be conducted during after-office-hours only one evening a week, in order to minimize disturbances by leaving their office during day time. The other attractive feature will be the   out bound training programme, specially designed and executed by special trainers, which will enhance the leadership, team building and personality development of 
all participants.
