Retired SLPA employees rewarded with gold pounds

The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) employees who retired from service during the last two months were rewarded with gold pounds recently at ceremony held at the Mahapola Training Institute (MPTI) of the SLPA with the initiative of Ports and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranathunga and SLPA Chairman Dammika Ranathunga.


Forty seven retired employees, who had exceeded the service of 15-25, 25-35 and above 35 years, were rewarded at the ceremony.


Expressing views at the occasion, the minister stated that he was able to make the institution independent by freeing it from the political stronghold. 


“The port has regained an immense progress with the assistance received from the port employees who make an excellent performance even amidst several shortcomings,” he added.
The senior executive officers of the higher management of the SLPA, including Director Operations Jayantha Perera, Director Security Major General Nisshanka Wijerathne, Acting Chief Human Resources Manager Nirmal Fonseka, Chief Training Manager L.H.R. Sepala, Acting Chief Finance Manager Kanthi Gunawardhane, a large number of executive officers and staff members were also present at the occasion.
