The late Postgraduate Institute of Management Director Professor Uditha Liyanage was a strong endorser and the Chairman of the panel of judges for the Sustainability Reporting Awards conducted every year by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), where companies are recognized and rewarded for their exemplary reporting tenets conforming to the GRI guidelines, which are increasingly being imbued into companies’ reporting processes around the world. His demise is a great loss. As a pioneer in establishing frameworks for strategy and marketing in the country and being a strong believer in the value of corporate social responsibility for organisations, he played a key role being the Chairman of the panel of judges for ACCA Sustainability Reporting Awards each year. He believed that greater levels of high-quality sustainability reporting from all types of organisations will help local and national efforts to address environmental and social issues.
He endorsed the fact that it is necessary to develop new metrics and measurements of progress that look beyond economic output to factor in non-traditional measures such as human wellbeing and natural capital.
