AIA recognised as Asia’s Best in People Development

AIA Sri Lanka collected an amazing 5 accolades at the Great Place To Work Awards this year.
Among the array of recognitions there was the Asia Award for Best Practices in People Development. “Empowerment is at the core of our people development practices and with it comes accountability and personal responsibility to be the best among insurers in Sri Lanka – This Asia award on development demonstrates that we are on the right track,” said Shah Rouf, the Company’s CEO.
The recognitions place AIA in a class of its own in many people categories. It validates that while not everyone can claim to work at a truly great place, it seems for employees of AIA, greatness is a part of their daily working culture. Living up to its company principles of “doing the right thing, in the right way, with the right people, to achieve the right results”, AIA is delighted to emerge among the top rung winners in the Great Place To Work® survey and this for the third consecutive year.
AIA’s other accolades from this respected global study includes listing in the ‘best 20 companies to work for in Sri Lanka’, the ‘Best in Engaging People in CSR’ and Silver awards for the ‘Best Multinational Corporations to Work for’ and ‘Best in large sized enterprise category’. AIA was also among only seven companies to be recognized for being a Consecutive winner for each of the last three years.
These credits further reinforce what AIA employees think of and feel about the company they work for. The latest AIA employee engagement survey saw sentiments such as “I enjoy coming to work because it is like my second home and I feel the culture is one which encourages innovation, creativity and diversity.” Another comment was, “I’ve been with the company for over 8 years and I have no intention of leaving any time soon! I have been given wonderful opportunities to grow and make the most of my talents. I am happy to be a part of such a vibrant team.” Yet another opinion was that the company “gives us opportunities to grow both professionally and personally and allows for that much needed ‘work-life’ balance.”
AIA Director Human Resources Chathuri Munaweera said, “We are honoured to be recognized by the GPW study. We are a company that encourages a culture of high performance. The happiness of our employees, that they are cared for and respected in that process and given opportunities for personal growth is a priority to us.”
She concluded, “As we continue to nurture an environment where optimal working relationships and new and diverse ideas are encouraged, I am thankful to our leaders for the confidence provided to our people to feel that.”
