CIM Sri Lanka appoints board for 2016

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Sri Lanka announced the appointment of the board for 2016, at the 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) which took place recently, at Galadari Hotel, Colombo. 

Serendib Leisure Management Ltd Director Business Development and Projects Sanjika Perera will continue his tenure as the Chairman of CIM Sri Lanka, whilst GlaxoSmithKline Managing Director Stuart Chapman will continue his term as the Honorary President of the institute. 

The Honorary President chaired the AGM and invited the Chairman Sanjika Perera to present the annual review of activities for the year 2014 - 2015. 
“Significant progress has been made in the year under review, with many key initiatives being implemented by the institute,” Perera said.

“Unfolding the strategy for 2016, our focus will be on five key areas namely, education, membership, knowledge hub, corporate communications and networking and fellowship,” he said. 

Speaking further, Perera said, “Increasing student membership by strengthening the CIM value proposition, sharing knowledge, providing networking opportunities and supporting Sri Lankan industries by reactivating market interest groups will be a few of our focus areas.”

He also emphasized on the initiatives that will be taken to promote certificate level qualification for corporates and promote corporate trainings. 

“With the continuous support and the contribution of the board members, CIM Sri Lanka can reach greater heights by building its membership to become the most sought-after professional qualification in marketing.” 

The members of the board for 2016 include Sanjika Perera as the Chairman, E. B. Creasy Group of Companies Consultant/Trainer Shantha Katipearachchi as the Immediate Past Chairman, The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment Sri Lanka Country Head Brian Selvanayagam as the Vice Chairman, Triumph International Head of Operations Amal Fernando as the Honorary Secretary, Inspire One Managing Director Sujith Silva as the Treasurer and Chartered Institute of  Marketing UK Acting CEO Chris Daly as Nominee – CIM UK.  

The rest of the board members include ACL Cables PLC General Manager Sales and Marketing Sumudu Thanthirigoda, Stafford Motor Company Ltd Director Charaka Perera, Union Bank PLC Marketing Manager Rajiv David, Ceylinco Life Brand Manager Dilini Rathnayake, Chief Business Strategies Officer Subsidiary companies of Sri Lanka Telecom PLC Roshan Kaluarachchi and Management Consultant/Corporate Trainer Dayan Fernando. 

CIM UK is the world’s largest professional body for marketing, represented locally by CIM Sri Lanka. CIM Sri Lanka is the first international branch of CIM UK comprising the largest number of members, both professional and students of CIM outside the UK - 1,800 student members and over 1,000 professional members, respectively. The regional institute has always campaigned for greater recognition and excellence in the marketing profession in Sri Lanka, through education, training and professional development.
