Hasrath Munasinghe named ‘People Leader in Marketing’

Commercial Bank’s Deputy General Manager – Marketing Hasrath Munasinghe has been presented with the highest HR accolade awarded to non-HR personnel in the country - the ‘People Leader Marketing’ 2015 award by the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM).

The award was presented at IPM’s annual awards ceremony during the National HR Conference which was held at BMICH amidst a distinguished gathering of HR academics, HR professionals and practitioners, representatives of the business community, media and professionals from various fields.  

This year’s People Leader Marketing, Hasrath Munasinghe serves as the Deputy General Manager- Marketing at Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, Sri Lanka’s No 1 private bank and the only Sri Lankan Bank amongst the Top 1000 Banks in the World for four successive years. He counts 20 years of experience in the fields of media, FMCG and Telecommunications of which 15 have been in senior management. Throughout his illustrious career Hasrath has led his teams to achieve professional and personal excellence whilst achieving organisational goals.

Hasrath Munasinghe is the recipient of many international and local marketing, leadership and business awards. In 2010, Hasrath received the Achievers and Leaders International Award from the Sri Lanka-India-South Africa-Singapore Partnership Summit and was nominated to the Echelon Business Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 list of Sri Lankans in 2013 and 2014. In 2013, he was also honoured as one of the “Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) in Sri Lanka by Junior Chamber International (JCI). In 2014 he received the coveted “Marketing Professional of the Year” at the Asia Brand Congress and was also listed amongst the “100 Most Talented Global Marketing Leaders” by the Chief Marketing Officers (CMO), Asia Council.

Hasrath holds nine academic and professional qualifications including two masters degrees – an MSC in IT from the University of Moratuwa, and a MBA from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), United Kingdom and is a Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) having the distinction of being the youngest Sri Lankan to receive this honour. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Sri Lanka region (CIMSLR) and as a Trustee of the Commercial Bank CSR Trust.
