Holcim (Lanka) Ltd, as a member of the LafargeHolcim group, a leading pioneer in the cement industry, continues with its commitment to health and safety (H&S) through a Contractor Safety Forum, held recently at Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo.
The Contractor Safety Forum, conducted in the presence of top management of all contractor companies working with Holcim (Lanka), was a platform sharing for in-depth knowledge, implementation practices and insights into the topic, along with highlighting the LafargeHolcim expectations on H&S as an overarching value.
The attendance of over 175 participants from 80 different companies came together to boost this forum’s performance as key stakeholders for H&S.
Holcim CEO Philippe Richart commenting on the importance of health and safety said, “Holcim remains committed to health and safety as an overarching value that touches every aspect of its operations as it is deeply entrenched in Holcim company culture. It is events and knowledge-sharing platforms such as this that will ensure the continued progression for health and safety in all industries, which is a must and is undoubtedly an arterial factor tying into the triple bottom line of people, planet and profit.”
Holcim Head of Health and Safety Gayan Fernando commenting on the joint journey of achieving zero harm said, “It is almost impossible for one person alone to effect change. However, seeing this outstanding attendance at today’s event – it is invigorating to see that many stakeholders are truly dedicated to contractor safety and adopting change when required.”
As LafargeHolcim drives the concept of safety as a value, both employees and contractors alike are urged to fully understand and adhere to safety standards. Through continued progress in this area and bestowing ownership of safety – Holcim takes a stoic approach centred on leadership and accountability and effectiveness of actions as key factors towards making H&S measures successful throughout the supply chain.
